"If your compassion does not include yourself,
it is incomplete."Ā ā Jack Kornfield
Many of us are so conditioned towards being people-pleasers š that we forget that weāre people, too. We forget that we deserve the same respect, attention and kindness š that we give to others. In order to demonstrate this, we must set boundaries for ourselves. ā¹ļø Things like:
~knowing what we will and will not tolerate šš
~setting standards for our own health and well-being š«¶
~requiring respect š«”
~learning to say no to people/things š āāļø
All of these qualify as setting boundaries and are necessary to live a life that allows us to embody kindness. When we start to embody kindness, we can give it more freelyāto both ourselves and others. š
"As you get better at advocating for yourself, asking for what you need, & holding your ground, people who liked you better when you were a boundaryless, people-pleasing good girl arenāt going to like itā¦& thatās ok."
āRobin Clark
